Automotive Hall of Fame
Creates an Attractions Campus
DEARBORN, MI, July 7, 1997 -- The decision to locate the Automotive Hall of Fame next door to Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village and near the Henry Ford Estate Fairlane in Dearborn, Michigan, reflects the concept of an attractions campus and represents the most current thinking in travel destination planning.
An attractions campus clusters several different visiting experiences in close proximity to each other for the convenience of visitors.
In addition to visiting the Automotive Hall of Fame, which opens August 16, visitors also can enjoy Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village, just steps away, without having to repark their cars. From Memorial Day through October 31, the Hall of Fame will be open daily until 7 p.m., making it the perfect way for tourists to cap their day before overnighting in metro Detroit. At all times of the year, Hall of Fame programs and exhibits will be very different from those at Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village, making it appealing to visit both attractions.
The elegant Henry Ford Estate Fairlane is only a few minutes away from the Hall of Fame, adding further to the destination appeal of this attractions campus.
The new Automotive Hall of Fame is designed and built to be a visitor attraction
and educational resource. It celebrates accomplished people of the worldwide motor
vehicle industry for the purpose of inspiring others, especially young people, to higher
levels of achievement in their own work and lives. It is a unique "people place" of
innovation and inspiration where interactive experiences and one-on-one demonstrations are entertaining and enlightening.
