THE FACILITY

Just one look and you see that Bondurant's commitment to the art of professional driving instruction is serious business. The size and scope of Bondurant's Phoenix, Arizona facility at the Firebird International Raceway complex is beyond comparison.

It features a state-of-the-art 1.6-mile road course -- the only one of its kind in the world. Designed by Bob Bondurant specifically for racing and advanced driving instruction, the course consists of a variety of corners and elevation changes that will challenge both novices and professionals alike. Bondurant also utilizes Firebird Raceway's three other tracks for selected advanced road racing programs.

In addition, a 3.5-acre asphalt pad is used for basic and advanced driver training with exercises on the Throttle Steer Circle, Handling Oval, Accident Avoidance Simulator, Slalom Course, Autocross Course, Controlled Panic Stops and Skid Pad.

The Bondurant fleet features over 150 vehicles, including single-seat Crossle Formula Fords (mini Indy and Formula One-type cars), and the latest high-tech offerings from Ford and Lincoln-Mercury. All Ford vehicles, such as the potent 5.0 V8 Mustang GTs, Taurus SHOs and Lightning F-150 pick-ups, are specially-built for Bondurant by Roush Racing -- the same company that prepares championship-winning race cars for Ford Motor Company.

Roush Racing's preparation of the Bondurant cars includes a variety of high performance additions such as stiffer Eibach cold-rolled springs, Monroe gas-tuned shock absorbers, and PBR brakes. Goodyear's latest speed-rated tires are mounted on newly-designed Bondurant American Racing Equipment wheels, and all cars are fueled by Texaco System 3 gasoline.

Safety modifications include roll-cages, Simpson five-point racing harnesses and ATL fuel cells. All vehicles are then meticulously maintained and kept in race-ready condition by Bondurant's own competition-trained mechanics.
