Accolades Roll In for Lexus GS 400/300

TORRANCE, Calif., Nov. 12 -- After posting sales of 2,469 in
its first three weeks, the all-new GS 400/300 sport sedan has captured its
first two awards. The GS 400/300 was named a "Best Buy" in the luxury car
category by "Consumers Digest" magazine, while the GS 400 was given "Best of
What's New" status by "Popular Science."
The "Consumers Digest" "Best Buy" designates products that offer
outstanding value for the price, including cost of ownership. In its review,
the magazine observed "all its wonderful luxury features belie the fact that
the GS also functions as a ferocious sports sedan." The magazine also noted
value-added features such as the new Vehicle Skid Control (VSC), side air-
bags, back-lit "Optitron" gauges and the optional navigation system.
Popular Science's "Best of What's New" is a distinction given to the top
100 products that were reviewed throughout the year in the magazine's "What's
New" column. The GS 400 was chosen to be a part of the top 100 from among
thousands of new products.
"We know the GS is a great sport sedan given its performance numbers,"
said Jim Press, Lexus senior vice president and general manager. "But, these
first honors confirm that it gives customers advanced technology at a great
value as well."
