- If your car is six months old, it should have a complete suspension re-alignment. Why? Because of chasis settling.
- If your car is two years old you should have the brake fluid changed - moisture absorbtion can cause internal corrosion and lead to brake failure.
- Once a year it is a good idea to pour a bottle of Bar's Leak conditioner directly into your radiator to ensure system lubrication and to add a touch of forgiveness for tiny cooling system leaks, which all engines have.
- You can improve your car's mileage by doing the following:
- Keep your car properly maintained
- 1.---Oxygen Sensor wears out at 60,000 miles
- 2.---Tire alignment reduces tire wear
- 3.---Radiator thermostat - replace every 4 years
- 4.---Air filter must be clean
- 5.---Thermostatic air-contol system - if broken causes cold drive-a-way and burns more gas
- Keep tires properly inflated
- Use synthetic or new blended motor oil and lubricants
- Use fuel with the correct octane rating- check the owner's manual
- Don't overfill the tank
- Install the largest battery that will fit in your car - faster starts burn less fuel
- Unload excess weight from back-seat and trunk (Friendly passengers do not count)
- Use radial tires
- Accelerate and Decelerate slowly and smoothly
- Don't speed- this has many advantages, lower fuel consumption being one of them
- Coast as much as possible
- Start cars properly - Fuel Injected: don't give gas - Carburetor: pump pedal twice
