Barber Dodge Pro Series Increases Prize MoneyLAKEVILLE, Conn. - Barber Dodge Pro Series Manager Steve Sewell today announced that the prize money for the 1998 season, which marks the debut of the carbon-composite Reynard Dodge chassis, will be increased from its current $41,400 to $55,100. The most notable change is a $2,000 increase for first, second and third; they’ll pay $12,000, $8,000 and $6,000, respectively. Progressive Custom Wheels’ $500 "Most Progressive Driver" contingency award continues for its fourth year. In conjunction with the previously announced increases in the champion’s bonus (from $150,000 to $300,000) and the Barber Dodge "Rookie of the Year" prize (from $75,000 to $150,000), it puts the Barber Dodge total season purse over one million dollars ($1,166,300 to be exact) for the first time in series history. "We anticipate full fields of 30 and the possible addition of another race to our traditional 12-race schedule," Sewell said. "This fattening of the race and season purses assures that our prize money is commensurate with Barber Dodge’s increased recognition and visibility."
