PHOENIX, AZ: Dale Jarrett, driver of the Ford Quality Care Taurus on the NASCAR Winston Cup circuit, was released from the hospital Thursday. Jarrett was placed in the hospital with gallstones last Sunday. He may be cleared to drive this weekend in the AC Delco 400 at Rockingham, North Carolina.

Hut Striklin is standing by as a replacement driver if Jarrett cannot compete in this weekend's race. Jarrett is also considering driving in the final Winston Cup race of the season in Atlanta on November 8.

Ford Motorsports spokesman, Fred Shea, said "The doctor and the Jarretts agreed to delay surgery to remove his gallbladder until the season is over. But, they're going to monitor him closely between now and the end of the season."

Jarrett was forced to drop out of the Dura-Lube 500 race at Phoenix. Jarrett pulled into the pits after being lapped by race winner, Rusty Wallace. He was relieved by Michael Waltrip, who drove to a 32nd place finish.
