Darrell Waltrip's Reaction to Tim Flock's Death

The following is Darrell Waltrip's reaction to Tuesday's death of NASCAR great Tim Flock. Waltrip turned his #17 car into "The Tim Flock Special" that carried Flock's famous #300 on Friday and Saturday practice and qualifying sessions at Darlington on March 20 & 21.

Waltrip issued the following statement from his Franklin, Tennessee home on Tuesday afternoon, hours after learning of Flock's death.

"I am pleased that I got to do that car for Tim and his family at Darlington. I was so afraid Tim wouldn't be able to hang on long enough to see it happen. I don't know how significant it was that Tim got to see that car, but I can tell you this, it was important to me. I hope it encouraged him and put a smile on his face at a time when there wasn't a lot to smile about. Stevie and I send our heartfelt condolences to Tim's family and we know that all of the NASCAR family is thinking of them today. We will miss Tim."
