Dynamic Daytona Coverage Kicks Off January 31st


LOUISVILLE, KY & SACRAMENTO, CA -Motor sports' busiest two weeks, commonly known as Daytona Speedweeks, will receive the internet's most comprehensive coverage ever when THE AUTO CHANNEL begins presenting live hourly trackside reports this Saturday of the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona road race. The live audio updates, along with photos and text reports, will provide racing fans around the world with the most in-depth continuous information about this famous endurance event.

Daytona Speedweeks consists of several races sanctioned by a variety of associations: NASCAR, ARCA, IROC, and the newly formed USRRC (United States Road Racing Championship). Speedweeks concludes with the annual running of NASCAR's Daytona 500 on February 15th.

In all, THE AUTO CHANNEL will cover seven different races; plus the various qualifying, pole position, and practice session events associated with those races. The seven main event races and their scheduled dates are:

1/31-2/1 Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona
2/8 Bud Shootout
2/8 ARCA 200
2/13 Goody's Dash/Discount Auto Parts 200
2/13 IROC Series Round 1
2/14 Napa Auto Parts 200/Busch Grand National
2/15 Daytona 500/Winston Cup

THE AUTO CHANNEL's comprehensive coverage will include live and taped TV and radio reports, live video and audio interviews, text stories, lap-by-lap text summaries, live simulcasts of radio coverage provided by local radio stations, and extensive photographs.

From February 5th to 15th, THE AUTO CHANNEL will present daily live 30 minute "TV on the NET" shows recapping the days' activities. The shows run nightly at 8pm ET, and are hosted by veteran motor sports broadcaster Walt Glatthaar.

In addition, THE AUTO CHANNEL will also present a live "TV on the Net" simulcast of Glatthaar's KMOX open line call-in radio show on February 9th at 9pm ET. Glatthaar's co-host for the show will be AP's motor sports guru Mike Harris.

On hand to cover Daytona Speedweeks for THE AUTO CHANNEL will be Terry Callahan, TACH's Motor Sports Managing Editor; David Treffer, TACH's Endurance and World Sports Car Racing Contributing Editor; Mike Snow and Lori Vizza, TACH's Stock Car Racing Contributing Editors; Randy Stevens, Contributing Writer and Production Specialist; Paul Dever, TACH's News Director; and the above mentioned Walt Glatthaar, who also hosts THE AUTO CHANNEL's live weekly motor sports report radio show.

All coverage is available free of charge to internet users around the world. To watch and listen to the video and audio elements of THE AUTO CHANNEL's coverage, users will need the VXtreme and RealAudio plug-ins. Both plug-ins are available without cost, and can be downloaded and installed quickly and easily by following the instructions posted on THE AUTO CHANNEL. For best results, a 28.8 kbs or faster modem should be used. Netscape 3.0 or higher browsers are recommended, although Internet Explorer 3.0 browsers will also work well.
