Super Thunder At ThunderbowlValdosta, GA - If you thought the 1997 racing season was over; Think Again! Friday and Saturday November 28th and 29th the sound and fury of the Super Late Models will be heard at Thunderbowl Speedway in Valdosta, GA. It's time for the 9th Annual Turkey Trot Shootout and many of the biggest stars of the dirt Late Model fraternity will be on hand to attempt to collect the $10,000 winner's check. Thunderbowl Speedway has been remodeled this year and this will be the fastest 100 laps in Turkey Trot history. This year's race is expected to attract many of the top names from all over the United States such as the 'Chattanooga Flash' Ronnie Johnson, Kenny Merchant and the ever popular 'Flintstone Flyer' Mike Duvall. The field this year promises to be bigger and better than ever with many of the top Hav-A-Tampa and STARS racing series stars coming to Thunderbowl for this year-ending event. Mike Head, Mark Miner, Ed Gibbons, and Stan Massey are among the the roster of winner's in past Turkey Trots, but the name to be engraved on this year's trophy has yet to be determined. It will take 100 laps of rockem-sockem Late Model action to decide who is best on the half mile clay of Thunderbowl Speedway. In addition to the Late Models, there will also be a 50 lap event for the super-popular Late Model Sportsman cars. Stars like Gene Maine, Cary Corbin and Charlie Harris are expected to be on hand to defend their home turf against the challenge of a full field of Late Model Sportsman cars from all over the Southeast. With $2,500 going to the winner of the Late Model Sportsman race, it promises to be a battle royal. Gates open Friday night at 4PM with racing action beginning at 7PM as the Super Late Models and the Late Model Sportsman battle for their respective Pole positions and fight it out in Heat races for starting spots. Saturday, gates will open at 12 Noon and racing starts at 4PM with over 150 laps of top racing action on tap. Hobby, Thunder and Lightning, and Pure Stock classes will run feature races both days. There will be an open practice on Thursday at 7PM. Get your seats early because this is not the race to miss! Thunderbowl Speedway is located 2.5 miles west of Interstate 75 at Exit 6.
