IRL News: RCM Motorsports
Joins with AMS/SRS

GASOLINE ALLEY, Indianapolis, Indiana - RCM Motorsports announced today that it will join forces with the Indy Racing League’s Arizona Motor Sports/Sinden Racing Service (AMS/SRS) in 1998.

AMS/SRS, headed by Jeff Sinden and Joe Kennedy, traces its roots to the early eighties. The team has competed in a number of forms of racing, including the Indianapolis 500, the Firehawk Endurance Championship, Indy Lights and now, the IRL. The team has a reputation for turning out solid, professional and competitive efforts. Its SRS division manufactures pit equipment that sets the standard industry wide.

RCM has fielded successful F2000 efforts since 1994. Former drivers include 1997 IRL Rookie of the Year Jim Guthrie and 1996 USAC Oval Crown Champion Allen May. “We feel that we are a true training ground. We’re excited to link with AMS/SRS and about growing together.”

AMS/SRS is the home of Crest Racing and its driver, Dr. Jack Miller. “This is good for everyone involved,” said Team Owner Jeff Sinden. “Its good for Jack because we’re deep in committed people, good for Crest because we have other opportunities to spread the word about oral health care and good for our F2 team members--they now have an in house goal to shoot for.”

RCM assisted AMS/SRS at the Indianapolis 500 last year, contributing people to the One Call effort of Steve Kinser and went to other events in support of Dr. Jack Miller, Allen May and Jeff Ward. Said Team Manager Chris McGrath: “This is a natural step in RCM’s competitive evolution. Our people have the opportunity to broaden their skill sets. Information and experience will be shared. Our capacity has nearly tripled. This will foster success at both levels of the effort.”

The F2 team recently signed Silver Crown standout Billy Puterbaugh to contest the Oval Crown. An announcement regarding other F2 drivers and a second IRL car is expected in the weeks ahead.
