IHRA Close To Announcing '98 Rule Changes

BRISTOL, Tenn. -- International Hot Rod Association officials announced Wednesday that rule changes and new programs for the 1998 season are very close to being released. IHRA Administrative General Manager Gary Schuetz said many important announcements will be made in the upcoming week.

Rules changes for Pro Modified and the possible creation of the new Super Eliminator category have been open for discussion since the end of the season. Important announcements concerning those two IHRA divisions will be released by the end of the work day on Wednesday, Nov. 26, Schuetz said.

"IHRA really appreciates all of the input we've received from drivers, car owners and sponsors concerning the status of Pro Modified and Super Eliminator over the last month," Schuetz said. "We've had great support from many different individuals in the industry, and that means a lot. I think the discussions have been positive and everyone understands the direction that we're heading."

IHRA is the sanctioning body for the Snap-on Tools Championship Drag Racing Series.
