Arciero-Wells/MCI Racing Wins PPG Best Use of Color and Design Award
![]() Max Papis Chris Hukill and John Meehan, who work for the Arciero-Wells paint and graphics department, were also in attendance at the event to accept the award. Hukill and Meehan created the design for the No. 25 MCI Toyota. This season, Italian Max Papis drove the MCI Racing entry with the sophomore Toyota powerplant to a 24th place finish in the PPG CART World Series. He scored the best Toyota finish of the season by placing eighth in the U.S. 500 in Michigan. Also, Papis was the most consistent Toyota qualifier, earning the top qualifying position for Toyota in 10 of 17 events. Arciero-Wells was formed in 1995 by the teaming of the Arciero family and Cal Wells III. Based in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., the program rests on the laurels of long-time CART team owner Frank Arciero Sr., who entered his first Indy car race in 1959, and Cal Wells III, who won 23 championship titles with Toyota in the off-road racing arena. MCI Telecommunications joined the team in 1996, forming the partnership of Arciero-Wells/MCI Racing.
