Mark Blundell Artwork

This Month's Featured Driver: Mark Blundell

"We are very pleased with that lap because we've had such a terrible weekend so far. We still have a lot of work to do, and it will be very difficult to pass during the race. The car was still very loose, in fact, the car was sideways in turns two and three on my fast lap. After that, I took it pretty easy on the second lap." March 1, 1997 after qualifying for the Grand Prix of Miami

Mark Blundell escaped horrendous accident at Brazil with broken right foot, missed three races and returned to finish fifth in U.S. 500. Top qualifying run came at Laguna Seca where he was fourth fastest. Former LeMans winner and Formula One test driver for McLaren and Williams, spent three years in F-1 before coming to CART.

Best career finish: 5th - 1996: U.S. 500

PPG points (standing): 1996 - 41 (16th)
