Unique V6 Makes Fourth Appearance on List

IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 7 -- Mazda today announced that the
innovative 2.3-liter Miller-cycle V6 engine found in the Mazda Millenia S
luxury sedan has been named as one of the 10 "Best Engines of '98" by the
editors of "Ward's Auto World" and "Ward's Engine and Vehicle Technology
Update." The Millenia's Miller-cycle V6 has been honored by the magazine in
each of the four years the awards have been given. The awards appear in the
January issues of both publications.
Judging was conducted by a panel of editors and was based on criteria
including horsepower and torque production; noise, vibration and harshness
characteristics; and technical relevance.

its size while delivering the fuel economy of a smaller displacement engine.
The 2.3-liter Miller-cycle engine in the Millenia S produces 210 horsepower
and 210 lbs-ft of torque while delivering up to 28 mpg on the highway.
The Mazda Millenia, has won numerous awards since its introduction,
including being named to "Automobile Magazine's" "All-Stars" list. In
addition, the Millenia has emerged victorious in several head-to-head
comparison tests with rivals from Lexus, Infiniti, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
"Ward's Auto World" and "Ward's Engine and Vehicle Technology Update" are
two authoritative automotive industry publications produced by Ward's
Communications of Southfield, Mich.
