Kenworth T2000 Delivers EMP's 'Electric Bus' Exhibit To Mid-America Trucking Show

LOUISVILLE, Ky., March 16, 2001 - Kenworth Truck Company and Seattle's Experience Music Project (EMP) have teamed up to bring a special exhibit to next week's Mid-America Trucking Show - EMP's Electric Bus.

A black Kenworth T2000 transports the Electric Bus, an educational touring vehicle that crisscrosses the country transporting the experience, inspiration and mission of the museum to music fans.

Experience Music Project opened in June of 2000. EMP was co-founded by Paul Allen (co-founder of Microsoft) and executive director Jody Patton and designed by world-renowned architect Frank O. Gehry. The innovative "swoopy" building is a must-see for those who want to celebrate musical innovation. The high-tech, interactive music museum boasts a collection of more than 80,000 artifacts and is expected to draw more than 800,000 visitors in its first year.

"The Electric Bus combines interactive and interpretive exhibits to celebrate some of the greatest songwriters in popular music and explore the role of song in society," said John Morrison, Electric Bus Director of Touring. "The Kenworth T2000 and trailer really help draw attention as we extend EMP's mission beyond the walls of the institution."

"Kenworth was honored that EMP selected the T2000 to transport the Electric Bus around the country in pursuit of its mission," said Steve Gilligan, Kenworth general marketing manager. "It's an outstanding program and we're happy to be participating in the tour."

Visitors to the Electric Bus can catch a glimpse of the creative process through artifacts, graphics and multimedia exhibits assembled from the EMP collection. Tour stops include music festivals, college campuses and special events. It can be seen March 22-24 in Kenworth's Booth (#3410) at the Mid-America Trucking Show.
