Just a mere 60 years ago, one of the big buzzes in the auto world was the Chevrolet El Camino - "the most beautiful thing ever to shoulder a load."

1959 Ford Ranchero
El Camino was part pickup truck, part station wagon, and presented as an elegant way to haul sh.., stuff. It did feature a rakish coupe styling and lateral tail fins. It was designed to compete with Ford's Ranchero that made it's debut in 1957. El Camino was definitely a much "snazzier" looking utility vehicle than the 1959 Ranchero, but the '57 and '58 Rancheros had styling that was similar to the '59 El Camino.
