Study measures owners’ experience with driver-centric vehicle technologies like comfort and convenience, driving assistance, collision protection, navigation and smartphone mirroring

HERNDON, VA - August 30, 2018: Volkswagen is pleased to announce that the 2018 Tiguan leads the compact segment in J.D. Power’s 2018 U.S. Tech Experience Index (TXI) StudySM. The study, now in its third year, measures owners’ experiences, usage and interaction with 38 driver-centric vehicle technologies at 90 days of ownership.

“We are thrilled that the 2018 Tiguan scored so well in the J.D. Power study,” said Derrick Hatami, Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and After Sales for Volkswagen of America, Inc. “Every aspect of the Tiguan was designed to cater to the needs of American buyers—from connecting your smartphone to available driver assist technologies—and this study validates the model as a serious competitor in the compact segment.”

J.D. Power conducts the annual Tech Experience Index (TXI) Study to help provide clarity to auto manufacturers, insurance carriers, telecommunications companies and consumer electronics companies on ways to minimize the gap between driver experience and execution. The major technology categories analyzed in the study are entertainment and connectivity; comfort and convenience; driving assistance; collision protection; navigation; and smartphone mirroring.

The study is based on a survey of nearly 20,000 vehicle owners and lessees. Awards are based solely on responses from the 14,800 owners who purchased or leased a new 2018 model-year vehicle in the previous 90 days that is an all-new or redesigned model within the past three years. The study was fielded from February through July 2018.

Starting at $24,595, the 2018 Tiguan is available in four trim levels: S, SE, SEL, and SEL Premium. Redesigned for the 2018 model year, Tiguan features an updated 2.0-liter TSI® engine with standard eight-speed automatic transmission. All four trim levels are available with the optional 4Motion® with Active Control all-wheel-drive system. Available features across the lineup include: LED lighting, panoramic sunroof, Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection (Front Assist) and other driver-assistance technology, Volkswagen Car-Net®, and Volkswagen Digital Cockpit.
