Volkswagen Produced More Than 6 Million Cars In 2017

THE HAGUE - December 31, 2017: This past year, Volkswagen established a new production record thanks to an extension of the model lines and growing demand worldwide. They built more than 60 models in more than fifty factories. On New Year’s Eve, the counter will stop on more than 6 million vehicles. Most popular in 2017 were the Volkswagen Polo, Golf, Jetta, Passat and Santana.

Volkswagen owes its production record not only to these models, but also to the growing demand for the Tiguan and the recently introduced Arteon and T-Roc. The Santana for the Chinese market is also extremely popular there.

Volkswagen has more than fifty factories in 14 countries worldwide. Since the introduction of Beetle, 72 years ago, over 150 million vehicles rolled off the assembly line. VW offers over sixty different models all over the world, while there are more being developed.

Volkswagen Arteon

The brand started a model offensive under its future strategy Transform 2025+. Last year more than ten models worldwide were launched. One of the latest addition is the Arteon. I very much like the sleek design of the 4-door Gran Turismo, that was unveiled last March at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. It was also shown as the Sport Concept GTE at the Geneva Show in 2015. It replaces the CC four-door coupe and takes a step up in size and style.

Volkswagen Polo

In the coming years the Volkswagen range will be renewed and extended with new SUVs and fully electric cars. By 2020, Volkswagen will offer 19 SUVs. From then on, the focus will be on the electric I.D. series with the I.D., I.D. Crozz and I.D. Buzz. We can expect more I. D. name plates later. Volkswagen plans to have sold 1 million fully electric cars by 2025.
