Ross Hoek Motorsport: TORC Elk River Race Report
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hoek Makes Gains at ERX More Power Coming for Crandon Holland, MI (June 20, 2017) - After a solid run in Round 2 at Joliet, Ross Hoek Motorsports was anxious to get to Minnesota to see how the revamped Ross Hoek Motorsports Auto Trans Design PRO-4x4 handle the challenges of the second-year track. The highest division in TORC is constantly evolving with new technology and the upgrades in the #7 RHM truck saw the team close the gap on the front runners of the class. The 7/8-mile long Elk River Motor Park off-road track offers some incredible challenges to a PRO-4x4 competitor. The design takes some of the attributes from iconic tracks like Bark River and Crandon, while adding a couple of very unique features of its own. The facility will soon become a fan and racer favorite. Saturday's fourteen lap Round 3, saw Hoek racing with Kincaid and Douglas during the first half of the race as the RHM "Silver Bullet" was running laps considerably quicker compared to last year's event. When the checkered was raised the #7 Ross Hoek Motorsports Auto Trans Design PRO-4x4 completed the day in fifth place. The next morning just before any racing activities began, a severe thunderstorm barreled through the Elk River area causing enough damage to the track as well as to several teams' pit equipment to postpone Round 4 until the Elk River September race weekend. "In the off-season the back half of the truck was upgraded," commented Ross Hoek. "Everything behind the cockpit was replaced. The crazy Midwest weather this Spring didn't give us much opportunity to test the new set-up, but the results from this first two races tell us we are moving in the right direction." "The weather Sunday morning was really severe. Fortunately, our awning received only minor damage compared to some other teams. Thankfully nobody was seriously hurt and everyone should be back in Crandon next weekend." "When we unload at the Big House, our hot rod should have another one hundred horsepower under the hood thanks to a new Todd Goodwin powerplant. Speed is important at Crandon and the new addition should help us close the gap even more." Next race is June 24-25 at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway in beautiful Forest County Wisconsin.
