Fraley Takes 1600 Buggy Win @ ERX
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 19, 2017 Las Vegas, NV ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Fraley Takes 1600 Buggy Win @ ERX ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After taking the top spot in Round 2 at the Chicagoland Slam in Joliet, IL, Bruce Fraley kept the pressure on his fellow 1600 Buggy competitors by winning Round 3 at the Twin Cities Takedown in Elk River, MN. The Las Vegas resident continues to move towards the one goal he has yet to achieve in his storied racing career, the TORC Series presented by AMSOIL 1600 Buggy Championship. Blue skies and very warm temperatures greeted the TORC Series racers during Friday's practice sessions. Of course temperatures in the 90s can be quite comfortable for a man that calls the Nevada desert home, and when the practice sessions were complete Bruce Fraley looked right at home. Saturday's twelve lap Round 3 race saw the #312 Fraley Performance BFGoodrich Tire buggy take the lead by the end of the opening lap. Quickly the race for the lead became a battle between Fraley and Tony Keepers. On lap three Keepers made the pass to take the lead, but Fraley battled right back a lap and a half later to resume command of the race. The remainder of the race saw Keepers stay close, but Fraley continued to lead the pack all the way to the checkered flag for his second win of the season. "We had a great start today and it was the key to taking the win," noted Bruce Fraley. "This track at ERX is really fun to drive. It has a variety of challenges, the hills, the jumps, the uphill turns, and of course the sand section. It really makes you work. The battle with Tony was just as fun. Somebody else asked me about the heat, and I said what heat? As I have always said, if you want to race with the best, you need to come to the Midwest." "We had a DNF in the opening round at Joliet, so I don't have any room for errors the rest of the way if I want to win this Championship. I have to thank my wife and family for all their support as well as Quickcar for supporting the 1600 Buggy class and my sponsors Freeman's Motorsports, KarTek, FAT, EPI, Dave Folts and Howe Performance. Without them I couldn't get back to the Midwest to race the TORC Series." Unfortunately, severe weather swept through the area on Sunday forcing the postponement of Round 4 until the final weekend of the season when the TORC Series returns to Elk River Motor Park. Afterwards Bruce packed up the trailer and headed to a fellow racer's shop for a couple of days to prepare for the next race before heading back to Las Vegas. The next stop on the TORC Series tour, the Big House Brawl, June 24-25, in Crandon, Wisconsin.
