International Automakers and Dealers Continue to Positively Impact U.S. Economy

WASHINGTON, May 23, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Here for America initiative released its 2017 International Automakers and Dealers in America report. It details the substantial investment and impact international automakers and dealers have on the U.S. economy, American manufacturing and job creation.

"The auto industry in the United States is stronger and more competitive than ever, thanks in part to successful trade agreements and open American markets, making this $75 billion investment by international automakers possible," said John Bozzella, president and CEO of Global Automakers and spokesman for Here for America. "Nearly half of all U.S. auto production last year was from international automakers which further underscores the considerable impact these companies have on U.S. jobs and manufacturing."

The Association of Global Automakers and American International Automobile Dealers Association (AIADA) expanded this year's report by including investment, and direct and indirect employment for all 50 states. The new "fact book" illustrates the growth in communities across the country in jobs, auto production, research and development, and sales.

"International nameplate dealers are growing their investment in the American economy and communities in a variety of ways, including direct and indirect employment," said Cody Lusk, president of AIADA.  "Today they provide the majority of America's auto retailing jobs and last year they sold 59 percent of the new cars purchased by American consumers. This report is a timely reminder of the positive impact international nameplate dealers and their brands have on the U.S. economy."

Here for America tells the story of international automakers and dealers, their ever-growing impact on the U.S. economy, and the benefits they provide to local communities. To follow along, visit www.hereforamerica.com and follow Here for America on Twitter and Facebook.
