Honda's Consolidated Financial Summary for the Fiscal Year and the Fiscal 4th Quarter ended March 31, 2017

TOKYO, Apr, 28 2017 April 28, 2017; Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced its consolidated financial results for the fiscal year and the fiscal fourth quarter ended March 31, 2017.

Consolidated operating profit for the fiscal year (April 1, 2016 through March 31, 2017) amounted to 840.7 billion yen, an increase of 67.0% compared to the previous fiscal year, due to profit-increasing factors such as an increase in unit sales due to the positive effect of new model introductions, a reduction of selling, general and administrative (SG&A) expenses that include quality-related expenses, cost reduction efforts and the positive effect of pension accounting. This was despite profit-reducing factors such as unfavorable currency effects and an increase in research and development (R&D) expenses. Consolidated profit for the fiscal year attributable to owners of the parent amounted to 616.5 billion yen, an increase of 79.0% compared to the previous fiscal year.

Consolidated operating profit for the fiscal fourth quarter (January 1, 2017 through March 31, 2017) amounted to 138.1 billion yen, an increase of 201.9 billion yen compared to the same period last year, due to profit-increasing factors such as a reduction of SG&A expenses that include quality-related expenses and cost reduction efforts. This was despite profit-reducing factors such as unfavorable currency effects and an increase in R&D expenses.

The quarterly dividend for the fiscal fourth quarter will be 24 yen per share, an increase of 2 yen per share compared to the same period last year. The total dividends to be paid for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2017 are planned to be 92 yen per share, an increase of 4 yen per share compared to the previous fiscal year. The year-end dividends are matters to be resolved at the general shareholders' meeting.

Honda Sets All-Time Fiscal Year Records for Automobile Production Worldwide, Overseas, in North America, Asia, and China

TOKYO, Apr, 27 2017 -Fiscal Year 2017 (fiscal year ended March 31, 2017) Production in Japan experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in three years (since Fiscal Year 2014).

Production in regions outside of Japan experienced a year-on-year increase for the fifth consecutive year (since Fiscal Year 2013), setting an all-time record for fiscal year production. This includes all-time records for fiscal year production in North America, Asia, and China.

Worldwide production experienced a year-on-year increase for the fifth consecutive year (since Fiscal Year 2013), setting an all-time record for fiscal year production.

March 2017
Production in Japan for the month of March 2017 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the second consecutive month (since February 2017).

Production in regions outside of Japan experienced a year-on-year increase for the eighth consecutive month (since August 2016), setting record high production for the month of March. This includes record high production in North America, Asia, and China.

Worldwide production experienced a year-on-year increase for the eighth consecutive month (since August 2016), also setting record high production for the month of March.

Total domestic automobile sales in the Japanese market for the fiscal year 2017 experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in three years (since Fiscal Year 2014).

Sales of new vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in three years (since Fiscal Year 2014).

Sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in three years (since Fiscal Year 2014).

Vehicle registrations - excluding mini-vehicles
Fit was the industry's fifth best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the fiscal year 2017 with sales of 98,922 units. FREED was the industry's 10th best-selling car with sales of 75,384 units.

Mini-vehicles - under 660cc
N-BOX was the industry's top selling car among mini-vehicles for the fiscal year 2017 with sales of 192,373 units. N-WGN was the industry's sixth best-selling car with sales of 86,627 units.

March 2017
Total domestic automobile sales in the Japanese market for the month of March 2017 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the second consecutive month (since February 2017).

New vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in two months (since January 2017).

Sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year decrease for the second consecutive month (since February 2017).

FREED was the industry's fifth best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the month of March 2017 with sales of 14,799 units. Fit was the industry's ninth best-selling car with sales of 11,629 units.

Mini-vehicles - under 660cc
N-BOX was the industry's top-selling car in the mini-vehicle category for the month of March 2017 with sales of 26,126 units. N-WGN was the industry's sixth best-selling car with sales of 12,403 units.
