BC's First Exclusive Electric Vehicle Rental Service Launches

RICHMOND, BC, April 20, 2017 /CNW/ - After blazing a trail as the owner of one of B.C.'s first green printing businesses, Jason Gagné will launch Western Canada's first car rental location that exclusively uses Electric Vehicles (EV). EV is common short hand for electric vehicles, and EV Rentals will open its first location in Richmond on April 22, which is also Earth Day.
"When I tell people about the launch of EV Rentals, many are surprised I'm the first EV-only car rental business in Western Canada," explains Jason Gagné, owner of EV Rentals. "Some of the larger companies include the odd EV in their fleet, but EV Rentals will be one of the first to only rent electric vehicles."
Originally popular with eco-conscious consumers, EVs are now becoming mainstream because they are more energy efficient, use significantly less gas, and have lower maintenance costs. In fact, according to Industryweek.com, by 2022 the EV market is forecasted to reach $614 billion.
EV Rentals officially opens its doors on April 22 (2105 – 21000 Westminster Highway, Richmond, BC V6V 2S9). Cars on display, and available to rent, will include:
- Tesla Model S P85+
- Porsche Panamera E-Hyrbid
- BMW I8 Plugin hybrid
Lower Mainland residents may recognize Gagné from his years running GreenerPrint.ca, which provides print and promotional products derived from sustainable sources and uses environmentally friendly production practices. EV Rentals was born from the same desire to promote sustainability through business.
"After dropping out of high school, I ended up working for Jimmy Pattison for several years and caught the entrepreneurial spirit," continues Gagné. "Jimmy inspired me to go back to school, graduate and study business management. Once I saw the need for companies that value sustainability, I knew where I was going."
