LEARN MORE: Become A Schmarter Car Buyer

TORONTO, March 16, 2017 "If you're thinking about buying a new car this year, you may want to buy it sooner than later," says Viraf Baliwalla, President of Automall Network, a vehicle buying service.

According to Baliwalla, this is the best time of year to buy a new vehicle because there is the best balance between large incentives from manufacturers, availability in the market and dealer willingness to dip into their profit margins to make the sale.

But very soon, manufacturers will stop taking orders for current model year vehicles to re-tool their plants for the next model year. Then, availability will dwindle as we move through the summer, the incentives will increase slightly but the tighter availability becomes, the less dealers are willing to negotiate.

"Society is conditioned to believe that between Christmas and New Year's is the best time of year to buy a new car," says Baliwalla. "Forbes Magazine even did a story on that in December. However, that time of year is better for dealers so they can bolster their year-end numbers."

"But, for consumers, end of March or early April is the best time to get the biggest savings if you are soon going to be in the market."

For example, consider the Toyota Corolla, a popular economy vehicle. In December, there were no cash rebates on 2017 models, however currently, there are up to $1,500 in rebates.

For Ford, in December there were no rebates on any of their 2017 car models but in March, there are up to $3,000 in cash rebates. And if you can find some 2016's still out there, they currently have up to a crazy $12,000 that didn't exist back in March.

For those that ordered a vehicle a few months ago and have not taken delivery yet, Baliwalla recommends asking for a 'rain check' for the extra savings.

Automall Network, established in 1999, is a licensed auto dealer but doesn't operate like an auto dealer. They work for the buyer to take away the burden of the car buying process and save consumers money. They offer a range of services from a Free Price Check to a Full Concierge Buying Service.
