Statement from Uber Alberta General Manager Ramit Kar

CALGARY, Nov. 30, 2016 /CNW/ - Today, Ramit Kar, General Manager for Uber Alberta, issued the following statement following the approval by City Council of changes to its regulations for ridesharing in Calgary.

"Over the past months, we engaged with the city of Calgary in the hope that changes would be approved by Council so that Calgarians can benefit from ridesharing.

Today, we are pleased to announce our return to Calgary offering a safe, reliable and affordable transportation alternative for riders starting December 6th.

During these tough economics times, ridesharing will create earning-opportunities for thousands of Calgarian driver partners.

The updated bylaw creates a workable regulatory framework that we will pilot for the next year.

Uber will continue to advocate for smart regulations in Calgary to make it easier for people to share rides."
