SEGMENTS 1-3
We spend the first half of the program this week talking to former Lansing mayor David Hollister about the documentary film and book he co-produced with Ray Tadgerson and others about how they mounted an unprecedented effort to keep General Motors in Lansing after the company announced they would close the historic Grand River Assembly plant for good back in the 1990s. Not only was this project successful but it has now become an internationally acclaimed case study for collaboration among disparate interest groups. The book and film are called “Second Shift, The Inside Story of the Keep GM Movement.”

SEGMENTS 4-6
Then we talk to Ryan Feyer, marketing manager of the Load Support division of the Air Lift Company, a 75-yet-old, family-owned company that makes air suspension systems for the aftermarket. Our discussion covers both the company and its products but also the huge, flashy, overwhelming Specialty Equipment Market Association Show recently held in Las Vegas. The SEMA Show, where Air Lift had two booths is the largest show of its kind in the world and fills a vast amount of indoor and outdoor space in Sin City. The Detroit Free Press also just named the Air Lift Company as a “Top 100 Work Place in the Midwest.”.
