MOUNT HOPE, Ohio, Nov. 15, 2016; The Genie Company announces the introduction of its latest garage door opener, the Model 3020.

The Model 3020 opener features battery backup capability, which allows homeowners to have the choice of whether or not to include it with their opener purchase. Many realize the importance of being able to operate the garage door in a power outage, and a battery backup can add safety and convenience at a potentially stressful time. However, consumers who do not need the battery backup can purchase the opener without it, yet have the option to easily add the battery backup later if they change their mind.

The Model 3020 uses a DC motor for strength and superior quietness. The DC motor also provides Soft Start & Stop control, allowing the door to start and stop its movement gradually. This reduces noise and saves wear and tear on the door by saving it from sudden jerking or stopping. A standard 6 ft. power cord makes hard-to-reach outlets easier to get to, possibly saving the need to install a new outlet box or move an existing one closer. It has an opening speed of 7.0" per second*. (* Maximum speed +/- 0.5 inches per second)

The opener comes with a C-Channel belt or chain rail. By design, the C-channel rail offers strength and improved aesthetics for homeowners as it helps shield the belt or chain from view.

Model 3020 openers can be further enhanced with innovative and convenient accessories. These options include the Genie LED light bulb, designed specifically for garage door openers, the Aladdin Connect smart device garage door controller, and the wireless keypad, among others.

"The Model 3020 allows homeowners to buy an opener with great standard and optional features", said Steve Janas, Vice President and General Manager – Sales/Marketing. "For instance, in addition to being very quiet, the opener can be installed with or without the battery backup. Homeowners who get the opener without the battery backup can easily add it later if they decide they would like to have it after all."

The Model 3020, like all of the current line of Genie openers, is compatible with all current and previous versions of HomeLink® and Car2U®. No additional receiver conversion kit or compatibility bridge is required to make the opener work with these in-car remote systems.
