SWANSBORO, NC – Hurricane Matthew has come and gone, causing no significant
damage to Carteret County Speedway.

Hurricane Matthew, which has caused torrential flooding and significant
damage all the way up the coast from Florida to Virginia, moved through
Carteret County on Saturday evening and into Sunday morning. While much of
Eastern North Carolina was hit hard, Matthew left little destruction in its
wake in the Cape Carteret area.

Carteret County Speedway suffered no structural damage from Hurricane
Matthew and the tropical storm force winds on Saturday. A couple of
banners, one sign and part of the playground in the infield were knocked
down by the winds.

“We were very fortunate,?? Andy Marquis, director of public and media
relations at Carteret County Speedway, said. “We know a lot of people in
the state were hit hard by this storm and the flooding associated with it
and our thoughts and our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected.
We were very lucky not to suffer the same impacts here in Carteret County.??

Carteret County Speedway is moving forward with the conclusion of the 2016
racing season with two races coming up at the end of October. Late Models,
Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, U-CARs and Legends will race on October 22nd in
the Budweiser Saturday Night Shootout and Mini Stock Mayhem will headline
racing on October 29th.
