Military Veterans, Gold Star Mothers to Receive Keys to Free Cars at Nationals Game from Caliber Collision and GEICO

Two military veterans with service-related disabilities and two Gold Star Mothers who lost their sons in combat will get a lift when each receives keys to newly refurbished cars at the Washington Nationals Ballpark.

The four vehicles are part of the National Auto Body Council's Recycled Rides™ program in which businesses in the collision industry team up to repair and donate vehicles to help individuals in need. The late-model cars were provided by GEICO and refurbished by technicians at four Caliber Collision shops in the D.C. Metro area who volunteered their efforts as a community service.

The recipients were nominated by Operation Renewed Hope Foundation (ORHF) whose goal is to help end veteran homelessness by providing quality housing and supportive services, and the American Gold Star Mothers, an organization of mothers whose sons or daughters died while serving their nation in times of war.

Recycled Rides Recipients:

Brad Gagnon, a Marine Corps Veteran from Woodbridge, Virginia, with school-aged children. He has been unable to work because of his service-related disabilities His wife has a job at a daycare center. The demands of her job, getting Brad to his medical appointments, and the needs of their two children make owning a car a near necessity.
Sharon Neil, also of Woodbridge, has been in the Army Reserves for 20 years and deployed twice. Sharon has service connected disabilities and then last year, began a battle with cancer. She was unable to work, forced into homelessness. Fortunately her health has stabilized, she has a new job but is not on a bus route and she has to spend large part of her paycheck on cab fares.
Mary Wiley's son, Army SPC Ross E Vogel III, enlisted right after September 11, 2001, He died in Iraq on September 29, 2009, while serving his third tour of duty. Mary found inspiration and strength through the American Gold Star Mothers. Despite her limited resources and lack of transportation, Mary has volunteered countless hours helping military families, veterans has received several service awards from Ft. Meade including the Presidential Certificate of Appreciation.
Donna Robinson is the proud Gold Star Mother of Staff Sgt. Damion G. Campbell who was killed in 2005 during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. She, too, is committed to carry on the legacy of her son's service by serving veterans, active duty soldiers and their families. A severe back injury forced her to stop working, limited her income and in the process, lost her car.
