NHRA Drag Racer John Force Joins Al Hurvis/ADAMM Education Foundation to Fuel MATC Students' Automotive and Technical Futures

NORTHBROOK, Ill., Sept. 27, 2016 -- Old World Industries, the company behind its flagship brand PEAK, a producer of antifreeze & coolant, BlueDEF Diesel Exhaust Fluid and other automotive products, has partnered with the Al Hurvis/ADAMM Education Foundation, Inc. (Hurvis/ADAMM) to bring John Force, 16-time Funny Car champion and 18-time champion car owner, and his funny car to the Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC). The event will promote career opportunities for students in the automotive industry.

The foundation recognizes Al Hurvis, the late father of Old World Industries' Founder and Chairman Tom Hurvis, providing scholarships to the underprivileged youth of greater Milwaukee and Milwaukee Public Schools. Through the foundation, Old World Industries has teamed up with ADAMM, an association of new car and truck dealers of southeastern Wisconsin, to honor MATC students with scholarships to support and advance their study in the automotive and technical fields within the greater Milwaukee community. To kick off the full day of activity, Hurvis/ADAMM hosted a luncheon followed by the MATC open house for students to learn about the variety of departments within the automotive and technical sector including automotive collision and repair, automotive maintenance and diesel and powertrain servicing.  Tom Hurvis states, "My father was very involved in the automotive business in Milwaukee and mentored many employees who would later go on to run dealerships of their own.  The partnership with MATC and their career pathways model helps students prepare or retrain for a career in many fields including automotive.  The program, depending upon field of study, allows students to earn credentials or industry certifications in a shorter time, providing them the skills needed to fill the available jobs in the industry."

"We are thrilled to be working with the Hurvis/ADAMM Education Foundation on such an exciting opportunity for our students," said MATC President Dr. Vicki J. Martin. "The Hurvis/ADAMM scholarships allow our students to be able to pursue their career dreams. This was a great opportunity for our students and community to meet John Force, who is such a prominent figure in the automotive industry."

To support the cause, John Force and his team will be on-site to share his long-standing history within the automotive industry, while offering encouragement and advice to students as they determine their automotive path. Widely known for his less than four-second, 330-mph runs in his Funny Car, Force has 146 event wins to date and is arguably the greatest champion in all of motor racing. However, his success didn't come easy as a man who rose from humble beginnings and childhood polio to become one of motor sports' biggest figures. Today, Force's determination has paid off and earned him bragging rights, which the Hurvis/ADAMM Education Foundation are excited to see translate and motivate the futures of local MATC students.

"We are proud to be able to give back to the automotive community in order to encourage each student's personal growth and academic future for an industry they are just as passionate about as we are," said Steve Herro, Vice President and Educational Director of ADAMM. "There is a great need for qualified technicians in the automotive industry.  Through these scholarships we're able to provide the opportunity for students to learn the skills needed to fill available jobs within the industry."

The event was held at the Milwaukee Area Technical College, Oak Creek Campus' automotive area at 6665 South Howell Ave., Oak Creek, Wis. For more information on the foundation, please visit http://www.hurvisadamm.com.
