U-Haul Reveals Plans for First Company-Owned Store in Laval

LAVAL, Quebec, Sept. 15, 2016 -- U-Haul is now proudly serving do-it-yourself movers at the former Effigi® Inc. corporate office at 1155 Autoroute Chomedey.

U-Haul Moving & Storage of Laval opened on June 9 and is currently offering truck and trailer rentals, moving supplies, U-Box portable moving and self-storage containers and more.

When renovations are completed in the spring, U-Haul customers will have access to more than 1,200 indoor climate-controlled storage units, covered load/unload docks, towing equipment and professional hitch installation.

"This 133,571-square-foot building is in the perfect spot," U-Haul Company of Western Quebec president Claude Boucher said. "It is located directly east of Autoroute 13 for easy accessibility and is such a beautiful, distinguished facility. It had been an interest for U-Haul for almost three years."

U-Haul will look to hire locally to fill its Team Member positions at the store and Boucher hopes that local contractors will get involved with the self-storage expansion.

"Laval is the third largest city in Quebec, but U-Haul hasn't had a self-storage presence here," Boucher added. "We were serving customers through our neighborhood dealers, but we needed to be able to serve them on a grander scale with our state-of-the-art security features."

The recent acquisition of the 4.1-acre Laval facility was driven by U-Haul Company's Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul® supports infill developments to help local communities lower their carbon footprint.
