Mercedes-Benz Canada Bids Farewell to Summer on a High Note

TORONTO, Sept. 2, 2016 /CNW/ - Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network announced another record-breaking month, with a total of 4,001 units delivered in August. Mercedes-Benz Canada's best-ever August saw a month-over-month increase of 7.3%, or 273 additional units sold. Total year-to-date sales now stand at 32,022 units retailed, up 8.5% over 2015.

In total, 3,335 Mercedes-Benz passenger car and luxury light truck sales were recorded in August, ahead 1.6% of the same period last year. This helped push overall results to 27,297 vehicles sold in 2016. Over the course of the month, a total of 1,725 Mercedes-Benz passenger cars were delivered, for an increase of 3.8% over 2015. This result was supported by excellent sales of the S-Class Sedan and the newly facelifted SLC. The new C-Class Coupe and AMG GT also garnered a great deal of interest, with sales up 146.2% and 130.8% respectively.

Sales of luxury light trucks remained steady month-over-month, with a total of 1,610 units sold. These numbers were bolstered by impressive growth in sales of the GLE Coupe, which saw a stunning 235.3% increase in units sold over August 2015. Other strong results from the SUV line-up came from sales of the GLS, with a 92.4% increase, and the G-Class, whose strong showing constituted an 11.8% increase compared to last year.

Mercedes-Benz Vans reported solid results in August, with a total of 384 units delivered. This represented a 1.3% increase for the month, and helped support year-to-date growth for the division to 19.0%, with 3,790 vans retailed.

smart reported sales of 282 vehicles in August, for a total of 935 units sold in 2016, up 82.3% over 2015.

The Mercedes-Benz Pre-Owned division recorded August sales of 1,379 units for an increase of 5.3% when compared to last year. These results represent a year-to-date increase of 3.8%, with a total of 10,777 units sold this year.
