NOVI, Mich.—Lacks Wheel Trim Systems LLC, a business unit of Lacks Enterprises, Inc., will be a featured sponsor at the 5th Annual Global Automotive Lightweight Materials (GALM) 2016 Summit that takes place August 23-25, 2016, in Detroit, Michigan.

Ryan O’Toole, director of sales and marketing, Lacks Wheel Trim Systems, will speak at noon Tuesday, August 23rd. During his presentation, O’Toole will unveil the newest addition to the Lacks product portfolio of composite wheel technologies, a wheel property that is a hybrid of aluminum wheel and carbon fiber construction.

This latest addition is the result of Lacks Wheel Trim Systems’ ongoing partnership with Plasan Carbon Composites, a leading Michigan based composites supplier to the automotive and aerospace industries. The Lacks and Plasan solution results in a wheel with significant carbon fiber content, ready for OEM production as soon as the third quarter 2017, with wheel shipment volumes not possible until now. The Lacks Wheel Trim Systems and Plasan partnership continues to drive true composite performance and affordable lightweight design into automotive applications such as wheel systems.

“We are very excited to once again be a sponsor at the GALM Summit in Detroit, a conference that for five years now, has been at the forefront of the increasingly important lightweighting movement,” said James Ardern, general manager, Lacks Wheel Trim Systems. “This is a movement that Lacks Wheel Trim Systems continues to support by providing automakers with advanced lightweighting solutions through our composite wheel technologies that provide an almost immediate savings of mass and weight ranging from four to ten pounds per wheel depending on size. Along with Plasan Carbon Composites, we are excited and proud to introduce our latest lightweight wheel property to the automotive industry.”

The GALM series of conferences is one of the flagship series of events run by London Business Conferences Group. Launched in London and Detroit in 2012, the conference series now includes Asia and is widely considered the world's leading automotive lightweighting forum. Designed to provide practical solutions on strategic, tactical and technical challenges, the conferences have drawn more than 5,000 delegates who have gained invaluable insight and formed business-critical connections.
