"CJ is going to take my best day to beat him. He's the best guy out there right now -- he really is." Multi-class contender CJ Greaves won all of the TORC: The Off-Road Championship PRO 4WD and PRO 2WD races of the doubleheader Throwdown in the U.P. weekend and now leads the points in both classes as the national championship heads for its final three rounds. The two drivers show different styles on course, with the younger Greaves favoring a smooth style while Johnny Greaves slings his truck sideways. Both are effective techniques in TORC Series racing, and the two drivers thrill fans with their close, door-to-door competition at virtually every round. Despite strong starts and a competitive pace, mechanical trouble has affected Johnny Greaves' results in recent rounds with differential trouble leaving him in two-wheel drive for part of the Saturday race and fuel system issues a day later. "I think I kinda got a gimme on that one," said CJ Greaves after the race on Sunday. "My dad seemed to have some problems all of the sudden and just slowed down." In the Atturo Tire PRO Light class, hometown driver Kyle Kleiman dominated two days of competition to edge into the Top 5 in the series' fiercely competitive spec class. The Michigan native Kleiman returns to the series in 2016 after a limited season last year that saw him score four top-five finishes. "I've just been working on my consistency," said Kleiman. "Any of these guys out here are good enough to jump on any mistake I make. I try to be smooth and follow my lines." In the series' new PRO UTV classes, Jason Luburgh took home a pair of wins in the Pro Stock UTV class, while Treavis Poynter and Tim Farr were on the top step in Pro Mod UTV. UTV PRO action joins the TORC Series this year for three championship stops. The ninth and tenth races on the 2016 national championship calendar saw great crowds in Michigan's Upper Peninsula for TORC Series racing, as well as exciting competition from Midwest Off-Road Racing's Sportsman classes.
