AUSTIN, Texas—Charity Motorsports, a new auto dealership concept that sells recent performance and exotic cars and gives all profits to charity, will open its showroom doors to the purchasing public for the first time this weekend. The dealership buys and sells only exceptionally well-maintained, low-mileage performance cars, with the goal of accruing north of $500,000 for two local charities and one national organization over the course of an average year.

Charity Motorsports is the first dealership of its kind, blending a proven business approach with a non-profit mission. It was founded by Gregg Burt, a longtime Austin entrepreneur and lifetime car enthusiast. Prior to Charity Motorsports, Burt founded Performance Retail (acquired in 2006) and subsequently served as president and CEO of both BuildForge and Hart InterCivic. Burt is still an active board member and investor, and he and his family have been steadfast supporters of local and national charities through personal efforts and their family foundation.

“The opportunity to build and grow a business dedicated to charity, while at the same time providing performance car enthusiasts an inventory of cool cars is a dream combination,” said Gregg Burt, founder and managing director of Charity Motorsports. “Like other ventures I’ve been involved with, there will certainly be challenges, but we look forward to locating great performance cars that meet our quality and condition standards, and then capitalizing on those automobiles for a good cause.”

Charity Motorsports is intent on improving the dealership concept for buyers as well, only acquiring and offering cars in outstanding condition at reasonable prices, thereby eliminating the haggling that makes the car buying experience unpleasant. Charity Motorsports’ showroom currently houses recent models from Lamborghini, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Aston Martin, BMW and other performance carmakers. While building inventory, Charity Motorsports has already sold several cars, establishing substantial business momentum.

With its grand opening scheduled for Saturday, July 9, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Charity Motorsports invites car buffs and prospective buyers to attend and participate. The showroom is located just west of Austin at 5200 Electric Avenue, Building 2, Spicewood, TX, 78669.

“Anyone is welcome to come meet our team, take a look at the beautiful cars we’re proud to be selling, and even show off their own,” said Burt.

The Charity Motorsports management team will maximize charitable contributions by running the dealership as though it is a for-profit business, keeping costs down, making smart deals and optimizing margins for inventory, but without the owners taking any compensation or bonuses. Once standard operational expenses are covered, all excess cash flow will be donated on an annual basis.

Specific charities have yet to be selected, but will include two from Austin and one national organization to share in equal parts of Charity Motorsports’ profits. The vetting process will take place later this year, and local Austin charities are invited to apply to be beneficiaries.
