Morgan, who lives in nearby Newark, Ohio, will be subjected to jokes and stories from friends and competitors from his many years in drag racing. The event, called The Larry Morgan Roast -- A Cavalcade of Laughter, will be held June 23 at Colonnade Banquet Facility in Milan, Ohio, beginning at 6 p.m. The proceeds will benefit the Quarter Mile Foundation, an organization whose mission is to collect and archive the history of drag racing. Summit Motorsports Park President Bill Bader Jr. will serve as the "ringmaster of ceremonies", attempting to keep in line the roasters, who no doubt have lots of stories -- good and bad -- to tell about Morgan. Morgan, in fact, picked his roasters: past Pro Stock driver Tony Christian, Comp racer Ian Landies Jr., engine builder Pat Musi, past Pro Stock driver John Nobile, engine builder Ollie Volpe, and past Larry Morgan Racing crew chief Billy Wagner. Festivities planned for the night are a cocktail hour, dinner, and the roast. Tickets and tables are available. Individual tickets are $80, with VIP tables available for $1,500 for eight seats.
