SWANSBORO, NC – Rain from a tropical cyclone, which will begin affecting
North Carolina’s Crysta Coast later today and tomorrow, has forced Carteret
County Speedway to cancel the Interstate Batteries Memorial Classic.
As of 9:00am on Saturday, there is a 70 percent chance of rain all day and
night on Sunday, May 29th. With racers coming from all across the
Mid-Atlantic, Carteret County Speedway has pulled the plug to save racers
time and money so they won’t drive several hours just to not be able to
compete.
The $20,000 purse that was posted for Sunday’s race will be applied to a
future race this summer and an additional race will be added to the 2016
schedule to make up for the cancellation. Those make-up dates will be
announced at a later date by Carteret County Speedway.
