SIOUX FALLS, S.D., May 20, 2016 -- The Badlands Motor Speedway era in Brandon, S.D. begins Saturday, May 21, 2016 with the Silver Shootout, and it's an event that will set new standards for automobile racing in the state of South Dakota.

The Silver Shootout is unique in that the payout system for both the Outlaw Sprint Cars and the Late Model Street Stocks will be paid throughout the field in silver bars. In September of 2015, Badlands Founder and CEO Chuck Brennan purchased 669 10-ounce Silver Bars with a total value of $100,350. Those Badlands-branded silver bars are the payout to the drivers at the Silver Shootout, and the price of silver has gone up over the last several months, big time.

"If the race were today, the 669 Silver Bars would be worth $110,385 with the Outlaw Sprint Car winner taking home 166 of them for a total value of $27,390," said Brennan. "The Late Model Street Stock winner would receive $2,145."

"It's been fun this winter to watch the price of silver go up and down," Brennan said. "What a great way to kick off the Badlands Motor Speedway era with this great, high-paying event. We'll be doing creative things like this at the Speedway, and we hope everyone has had fun with it."

The silver bars have clearly gotten the attention of some of the top Sprint Car drivers around the country. The payouts are massive, and some notable drivers will be gunning for the silver that pays nearly $30,000 to win and $900 to start the A-Main (main event) for the Outlaw Sprint Cars.

Here's a look at some of the Sprint Car drivers who've said they plan on competing in the Silver Shootout.

"The most 410 Outlaw Sprint Cars that have ever been on one track in the state of South Dakota was several years ago at a special Cheaters Day when we had 35 410 Sprints," said former speedway owner Steve Rubin. "Brennan should surpass that number on his first night of operations. This is absolutely huge and unheard of in the industry and he has raised the bar beyond reach. I can't wait to go to the track as a racing fan for a change and leave the worries to the Badlands Team."

Tickets for the Silver Shootout are $30 and can be purchased in advance at www.badlandsboxoffice.com or at the gate on Saturday.
