Anticipation Grows Ahead of Memorial Classic at Carteret County Speedway ​ SWANSBORO, NC – Large fields of cars are expected to greet race fans at the Inaugural Interstate Batteries Memorial Classic at Carteret County Speedway on Sunday, May 29th, which features a total $20,000 purse. Late Models, Mini Stocks and Street stocks from several different states plan to compete in the Memorial Classic, which boasts some of the largest purses this season. The race will be headlined by a $2,500-to-win Late Model race, but the $1,000-to-win races in the Street Stock and Mini Stock divisions are attracting a lot of interest. The racing will not be the only attraction at the Interstate Batteries Memorial Classic. Pre-race ceremonies will consist of a concert honoring the United States of America by Keith Henderson. Henderson is known for his “Illusions of the King�?? performances. Along with those festivities, the Rockin’ Game Party mobile gaming theater will also be on hand at Carteret County Speeway. The Rockin’ Game Party features five high definition television sets with five gaming consoles and age appropriate video games for children. “We are working to make the Interstate Batteries Memorial Classic one of the biggest races in the region,�?? track owner Bobby Watson said. “We’re going to have huge fields and some of the greatest racing you’ve ever seen in this $20,000 shootout. This is going to be an event.�?? The festivities will kick off on Saturday, May 28th with open practice followed by a concert by the local band Aquasonic. Race day at the Interstate Batteries Memorial Classic will be on Sunday, May 29th with the green flag dropping at 7pm. Tickets will be available the day of the race at Carteret County Speedway, with general admission tickets running at $15. Tickets for kids ages five and under run at $5. Pit passes for the event run at $25.
