"For as long as we've been drag racing, for whatever reason, this place has been terrible for us," Angie said. "I don't know what it is. We go to a track like Sonoma and we can do no wrong. We come here and nothing goes right. I'm just sick about it." Matt managed to eek into the field with a best pass of 6.962 seconds at 190.54 mph on his beautiful Victory Gunner, while Angie's pass of 6.973 seconds equaled the mark for the 16th and final position in the field, but she was bumped out by her slightly slower top speed of 189.84 mph. "Let me tell you one thing for sure: There's nothing wrong with these Victory Gunners," Matt said. "They are awesome. The fault lies with the way I'm tuning them right now. I take total responsibility. We should be in the top half of the field every race, both of us, every race. I just need to get my act together and tune these things better. "We've got the horsepower to run with anyone. That's why even though I'm not super happy right now, I'm not ready to throw in the towel because I know we just need to get the power band to match the bike and we'll be where we need to be." Built to battle the factory-backed Harley-Davidson V-Rods in the category, Matt's Victory Gunner will get a head-to-head chance in Round 1 of eliminations when he takes on Eddie Krawiec. The three-time series champion posted a second-best 6.880 at 193.71 mph in qualifying. "Eddie will be a great test for us right out of the gate," Matt said. "On paper, it looks like he's got us covered but we don't drag race on paper. I'll be here all night trying to figure out what I need to do. I really feel like I'm close to where I want to be with the tune-up. I hope I can find something tonight and give Eddie a race tomorrow." FOX Sports 1 will air Saturday qualifying from 10 to 11 p.m. ET and Sunday's elimination action from 4:40 to 7:30 p.m. ET.
