CIRENCESTER, UK - November 6, 2015: As strong growth in UK vehicle sales levels off in October, Mitsubishi continues to out-perform the market. Figures released today by the SMMT show that year on year growth through October for Mitsubishi passenger cars is up 51.9 per cent, compared to 6.4 per cent across all marques. In the commercial pick-up vehicle sector Mitsubishi is ahead by 30 per cent, compared to a market increase of 22.8 per cent.

Growth is being driven by a number of factors, including higher levels of marketing investment, a growing dealer network and the impact this year of two important new model introductions.

In the summer, the company launched the all-new L200 Series Five pick-up truck to much acclaim. It was immediately crowned ‘Pick-up of the Year 2015’ by leading car magazine Auto Express and has seen its retail sales jump by around 60 per cent.

In October a new version of the hugely successful Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in electric vehicle (PHEV) was introduced to the UK. Unveiled by Mayor of London, Boris Johnson in Tokyo, it introduces a bold new exterior styling, more European-feel interior and improved driving performance, such as quicker acceleration by two seconds and a quieter cabin. The Outlander PHEV accounts for around half of all UK plug-in vehicle sales. This is a sector that is expanding rapidly as more consumers switch to the economy and the very different driving feel of ultra-low emission vehicles.

The Mitsubishi Shogun and ASX also continue to perform strongly, up 24 per cent and 23 per cent respectively year on year.
