NASHVILLE, TN -- April 14, 2015: Nissan today announced that it has been named a presenting sponsor of the charity screening premieres and after-parties for WINNING: The Racing Life of Paul Newman, a new documentary on the Academy AwardŽ winning actor and philanthropist’s storied 35-year racing career. The twin premieres will be held April 16 in Los Angeles and May 22 in Indianapolis, in conjunction with the Long Beach Grand Prix and Indianapolis 500 respectively. All proceeds from screening ticket sales will benefit Racing for Cancer and The Indy Family Foundation.

“Paul Newman not only won an OscarŽ as an actor, but also amassed four national championships as a driver and eight championships as a team owner, with many of his most significant victories coming behind the wheel of Nissan and Datsun vehicles”

WINNING was directed by Adam Carolla and co-directed by Nate Adams. Featured in the film along with Newman are Joanne Woodward, Robert Redford, Robert Wagner, Patrick Dempsey, Jay Leno, Mario Andretti, Michael Andretti, Bob Sharp, Sebastien Bourdais, Graham Rahal and Tom Cruise.

“Paul Newman not only won an OscarŽ as an actor, but also amassed four national championships as a driver and eight championships as a team owner, with many of his most significant victories coming behind the wheel of Nissan and Datsun vehicles,” said Jeremy Tucker, vice president, Marketing Communications and Media, Nissan North America. “Paul never stopped racing, winning his last race at the age of 82, and we’re excited to help honor his rich legacy as a racer and humanitarian.”

Along with a selection of vintage Newman racing machines, many from the collection of comedian and radio personality Adam Carolla, Nissan’s all-new 2016 Maxima will make its first West Coast appearance – following its world debut earlier this month at the New York International Auto Show. The dramatically styled 2016 Maxima, created by driving enthusiasts for driving enthusiasts, looks like nothing else on the road today – and drives like nothing in the segment. It not only resets Maxima’s iconic “4-Door Sports Car” positioning, it sets a new standard for style, performance and technology in the large sedan segment.

Following the Thursday night WINNING premier, two of Nissan’s current GT-R GT3 racers will be competing in round five of the Pirelli World Challenge series on the streets of Long Beach.

“This is going to be a great weekend of celebrating Nissan’s past, present and future of ‘innovation that excites’ with vintage racing footage, current competition machines and the upcoming all-new Maxima,” added Tucker.
