2015 North American Car and Truck/Utility Vehicle of the Year Finalists Announced

Detroit December 9, 2014; Finalists were announced today for the prestigious North American Car and Truck/Utility Vehicle of the Year awards at a packed press conference in Detroit. The Automotive Press Association assembled at the historic (soon to celebrate 100 years old) Detroit Athletic Club downtown for the announcement where Henry Ford and his contemporaries hung out in the earliest days of the auto industry.

And the finalists are:

Car of the Year:
Ford Mustang
Hyundai Genesis Sedan
VW Golf

Truck/Utility of the Year:
Chevrolet Colorado
Ford F-150
Lincoln MKC

In order to ensure independence no corporate money supports the NACToY program. Journalists from the U.S. and Canada, 57 of them this year, pay dues to be on the jury and that covers the basic costs of the project. They evaluate every car, crossover and light truck that was introduced in calendar 2014 narrowing the field until three remain in each category. Then a final round of voting takes place to determine the ultimate winners.

Presentation of the awards kicks off the North American International (Detroit) Auto Show press days on January 12th. Manufacturers take great pride in winning this competition.
