The Internet's First TV Network a Perfect Fit for the New Google Chromecast

AUTO CENTRAL - July 25, 2013: Google's new Chromecast HDMI plugin device is an exciting new breakthrough for television viewing and an innovative improvement on Google's previous attempts to converge traditional television with the Internet (the most notable previous attempt was the Google TV set-top boxes).

To start with, the Google Chromecast device is just $35. That's a significant price discount from the couple hundred bucks for the simpliest version of Google TV. Second, the device is small... real small, almost like a thumbnail drive, although a bit larger than the Rabbit TV thumbnail drives that plug in to your computers and sell in drugstores for $10.

The difference with the Chromecast device is that it plugs into an HDMI port in your TV. You then use any type of laptop, smart phone or tablet to access the Chromecast app. This is kind of like the pairing between a smart phone or tablet with a Jambox speaker. You use the app to select a video program to watch and the video plays on the connected TV. You then use your mobile device like a TV remore control.

What is TACH?

For us at The Auto Channel, this is just one more great innovation that brings to life the vision we first forsaw for the Internet way back in 1994. It's why we became the first website to stream any kind of video, and why we spent so much time and energy producing and aggregating videos for Internet broadcast. By using Chromecast you can access any one of our more than 3,000 videos on YouTube. Some of our videos are an hour or two long, and a great many are about 30-minutes in length. Of course, we have short videos, too. Hundreds of the videos are in HD, and we add more and more videos all the time.
