KYLE, September 22, 2011: The 2011 Kyle Fair & Music Festival is an annual event that promises to be filled with plenty of family fun and entertainment.

“The city of Kyle was founded in 1880,” commented Ray Hernandez, Executive Director for the Kyle Area Chamber of Commerce. “We’re really looking forward to celebrating the birthday of this great city during this exciting event.”

This year’s event will be staged at Thunderhill Raceway from Thursday, October 13, through Sunday, October 16, and will include a carnival, BBQ Cook-Off, parade, music festival, 5K run, arts and crafts booth and food vendors.

“We’re proud to host this exciting annual event at Thunderhill Raceway this year,” said Mary Ann Naumann, Thunderhill Raceway’s Owner/Promoter. “We have the perfect venue for these kinds of activities, with plenty of room for everyone to bring out their families and enjoy themselves.”

Kicking off the festivities will be a carnival that starts on Thursday evening. The carnival will offer fun for the entire family with rides and activities through 11:00P Sunday night.

Friday’s activities start with the Kyle Lions Club BBQ Cook-Off. Teams can show off their cooking talents in front of thousands of hungry BBQ fans and will be competing in several categories – Brisket, Pork Spare Ribs, Chicken, Jackpot Chili, Jackpot Beans and Jackpot Dutch Oven Cobbler. Judging will be done throughout the day on Saturday, and the winners will be recognized in an Awards Ceremony around 5:00P on Saturday.

Handmade crafts, gifts and beautiful artwork can be found at the Kyle Fair, starting at 5:00P on Friday (October 14). Food vendors will also be lined up to satisfy those hungry appetites.

The Music Festival will start at 6:00P on Friday and will be featuring several live bands – including Honeybrowne, Cheyenne, Grupo Fantasma, Blue Clear Sky, Los Texas Wranglers and Blue Dog Band. The Music Festival will continue through 11:00P on Saturday.

“Bring the whole family out for a great variety of music all weekend,” said Ryan Conine, Thunderhill Raceway’s Production Director who’s handling the musical entertainment for the Kyle Fair. “We’ll have everything from the Texas favorite ‘Honeybrowne’ to the Grammy winning ‘Grupo Fantasma.’ Everyone’s guaranteed to have a great time on both Friday and Saturday!”

On Saturday (October 15), beginning at 10:00A, the Kyle Founders’ Parade will wind its way through downtown Kyle and end up at the Mary Kyle Hartson City Square Park’s Gazebo. Following the parade, participants and guests are invited to sing “Happy Birthday” to Kyle and enjoy a slice of birthday cake.

It’s back to Thunderhill Raceway on Saturday afternoon and throughout the evening for more live music, carnival rides, shopping for arts and crafts and a big variety of food choices.

Sunday morning’s activities start at 8:30A with the 5K Kyle-O-Meter at Wallace Middle School.
