Camping World Trucks - Peters Preview

CHI-TOWN: Timothy Peters and the No. 17 NTB/Service Central Toyota Tundra team head into this weekend's race at the "Windy City" in hopes of turning their 1.5-mile program around. Over the course of 2011, Peters has an average finish of 19.6 at the five 1.5-mile tracks the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series has visited thus far this season. . This weekend's race could be a turning point in the young Red Horse Racing team's season as they continue to inch closer to the top spot in the point standings. Last year, Peters was running third at Chicagoland Speedway before a mechanical failure ended his night early.

BACK TO WHERE IT BEGAN: The crew chief of the No. 17 NTB/Service Central Toyota Tundra is a native of Rockford, Illinois. Butch Hylton spent six years in Rockford before moving to North Carolina to join NASCAR in 1990. Hylton is not the only Illinois native on the No. 17 team. Craig Noble, team engineer, also hails from Illinois. Noble grew up in Farmer City, Illinois and is a graduate from the University of Illinois Engineering program. Noble made the move to NASCAR and North Carolina in 2007.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 17 team will utilize chassis No. 001 this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. This chassis last competed at Bristol Motor Speedway where Peters earned his career-best Truck Series finish of fifth at the "World's Fastest Half-Mile". Chassis No. 001 has competed five previous times in 2011 at Charlotte Motor Speedway where he earned his first pole position of 2011. Peters also piloted this truck at Kentucky, Nashville, Pocono and Bristol.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Two weeks ago at Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS), Peters and the No. 17 team fought a loose-handling race truck throughout the event and battled electrical issues at AMS. Peters was able to salvage a top-20 finish and cross the finish line in the 16th position. Peters remains third in the championship standings 14 markers out of the lead spot.

What is it going to take to turn the Red Horse Racing 1.5-mile program around?

"My crew chief Butch Hylton and I sat down after Atlanta and formed a new plan. We think we know what the trucks need and what I need to go fast. That is the most important part is figuring out what I need as a driver to go fast. We ran really well here last year we were running third when I experienced a mechanical failure that ended our day. I'm really excited to get back to Chicagoland, I think this is a track that I can excel on and I'm ready to put Atlanta behind us for sure."

What are your thoughts on the Truck Series traveling to Rockingham Speedway in 2012?

"I love it. Anytime we can go back to a track that is close to the roots of this sport I support that. I really love all the tracks we go to in one way or another. However, it is cool to be able to race at a track like Rockingham with all the history the place has, all the famous finishes. Knowing that you as a driver get the opportunity to be a part of that kind of history is cool. "
