Camping World Trucks - Peters Pocono Preview

BACK FOR MORE: Timothy Peters and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series enter Pocono (Pa.) Raceway for the second time this weekend. The track dubbed the "Tricky Triangle" will host its second Camping World Truck Series race for fans in the Northeast. In his first outing Peters recorded an eighth-place finish

SPENDING TIME: Prior to arriving in Pocono, Peters will make a stop in York, Pennsylvania to visit the Campbell chain plant. Campbell is a brand under the APEX Tool Group umbrella, which supports Peters and the No. 17 Red Horse Racing team. Following the plant visit, Peters will meet up with the No. 17 pit crew in Sparks, Maryland where he and his team will visit the employees at the Apex Tool Group headquarters. The group will perform pit stops, give hauler tours and give the employees an opportunity to meet with the Camping World Truck Series most recent winner Peters.

LAP LEADER: After his win last weekend at Lucas Oil Raceway, Peters is ranked sixth among active drivers in laps led thus far in 2011. Peters has led a total of 117 laps thus far in 2011. The 30-year old Red Horse Racing driver currently sits fourth in the Truck Series point standings only 22 markers away from the lead position.

BREAKING THE STREAK: Last weekend at Lucas Oil Raceway, Peters broke a 36 race winless streak recording his first win of 2011, Peters continues to impress and has now won a race in each season that he has competed for Red Horse Racing since joining the team in 2009. The win marks Peter's third career Truck Series victory.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 17 team will utilize chassis No. 001 this weekend at Pocono Raceway. This chassis last competed at Nashville Superspeedway where Peters earned a third-place finish. This is also the same chassis that Peters ran at Charlotte Motor Speedway earlier this season capturing the pole and leading 30 laps prior to being involved in an on-track incident.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Last week at Lucas Oil Raceway, Peters came back from a spin on lap 90 to capture his first checkered flag of 2011. Peters took over the lead position with six laps remaining and stretched his fuel mileage to have just enough to record his first win of 2011. The victory elevated the No. 17 team to fourth in the Truck Series point's standings only 22 markers out of the lead position. Red Horse Racing now has five wins since the organization began in 2005.

What are your thoughts on Pocono Raceway? Many people feel it is the most unique track the Truck Series competes at. Do you agree?

"It's definitely different and very challenging. The first time I ever made laps around Pocono was when I was racing with Bobby Hamilton Racing in 2006 when I participated in a test for them. It is a track where you have to hold your momentum to get through the corners and come down the long front and back stretches."

Your crew chief Butch Hylton was the winning crew chief at the inaugural Pocono Truck Series race one year ago. How similar is your set up to the one that won last season?

"We are going very similar to what Butch had last year. We are riding the high coming off the win last weekend in Indy and we hope that this package will be the one to get us to victory lane for the second time in 2011."
