INDIANAPOLIS, May 20, 2011: According to AP, Simona de Silvestro will not practice Friday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but her team still hopes she will be able to qualify this weekend.

The 22-year-old Swiss has not yet been cleared to drive by medical officials after burning her hands in a crash Thursday. De Silvestro lost control of her car and it flipped several times, burst into flames and slid down the track upside down.

She has second degree burns on the back of her right hand and superficial burns on the back of her left hand and nose.

HVM Racing spokeswoman Monica Hilton says the team is not yet seeking a replacement driver because de Silvestro could be cleared to drive later Friday or early Saturday.

Saturday will be the first of two qualifying days for the May 29 race.
