The national touring series that draws thousands of Chevy enthusiasts to each of its 12 events throughout the country opens the 2011 season on April 8-10. As the 2011 launch venue, PBIR offers two unique elements to the annual show – a cruise and autocross course.

On Friday, April 8, PBIR Super Chevy Show participants will cruise in their classic, custom and modern Chevys from National Parts Depot in Ocala, FL, to the PBIR facility. Chevys are scheduled to participate in the inaugural cruise to PBIR which is nearly 200 miles, a true sight for Chevy fans of all ages.

“As a 10 year veteran of the Super Chevy Show Series, I’m thrilled that Palm Beach International Raceway is the first stop of the tour this season,” said Jason Rittenberry, President and CEO, PBIR. “The Super Chevy Show is a collaboration of some of the best car shows, drag races, swap meets and car corrals the industry has to offer. We’re looking forward to hosting Chevy fans and racers during our April event.”

Upon arriving at PBIR on Friday afternoon, Super Chevy Show participants and attendees can explore the grounds and experience one of the largest festivals of Bowtie past, present and future. For the racing fan, the drag strip will showcase numerous classes including DriveDuracell.com Class (Super Pro), Bracket 2 (Pro), D.O.T., Stock/Superstock Shootout, 5th Gen Camaro Shootout, Pro Mod Shootout, Quick 16 Dragsters and more. Special exhibition runs during the weekend include the Chattanooga Choo-Choo and Cannonball Express jet cars, the Airborne Express wheelstander and Southern SlingShots Nostalgia Drags.

The other added element to PBIR’s stop on the Super Chevy Show Series is the Toyo Tires Autocross. Available to amateur and competitive participants in Chevy-bodied or Chevy-powered vehicles, the solo timed competition takes place on turns two through nine of PBIR’s state-of-art road course. The autocross is often a favorite of muscle car enthusiasts that want to test everything from handling and suspension to tire grip. To participate in the two-day autocross event, the cost is $45 per entrant.

Those looking for that hard-to-find part for their custom car need look no further than PBIR during the Super Chevy Show. Custom car guru and 20-year swap meet veteran Harry “The Hat” LaPlatte will be at PBIR to host the do-it-yourselfer segment of the Super Chevy Show.

Following huge success in 2010, Revell Make ‘N Take activities make its second appearance at the Super Chevy Show Series presented by GM Performance Division. The authentic model-building experience since 1945, Revell will bring Make ‘N Take car models to Palm Beach International Raceway. A free activity for young racers, participants can build a 1969 Camaro with press-on decals. Model-building helpers will be available to assist in model assembly.

For those looking to see polished chrome and custom wheels, stroll over to the Show N’ Shine and Car Show to see some of the best-kept custom and classic Chevys of the tour. Show N’ Shine is non-judged and open to all Chevy-powered or bodied vehicles. The Car Show is judged and only open to Chevy-powered or bodied vehicles. The Show N’ Shine is $40 per entrant, while the Car Show is $45 per entrant.
