BENTON, March 19, 2011: JEGS Mail Order will serve as title sponsor of the inaugural Spring Door Car Shootout, April 30-May 1, at I-57 Dragstrip.

"We’ve designed this event for the sportsman racer; the weekend warrior door car racers," said race promoter Luke Bogacki. "I don’t think any single company has done more for sportsman racers over the last couple of decades than JEGS so it's great to have them as title sponsor.

"The yellow and black supports several major bracket events. They’re a contingency sponsor at all NHRA and IHRA events, including the ET Finals. JEGS also sponsors the JEGS All-Stars program and all three of the NHRA JEGS SPORTSnational events. They care about Sportsman racing and Sportsman racers."

The inaugural JEGS Spring Door Car Shootout, a doorslammer-only race, will feature a pair of daily main events.

Both the Saturday Moser Engineering Main Event and Sunday BRODIX Cylinder Heads Main Event feature a $7,500 winner's purse. In addition to the daily main events, competitors have the option to participate in a pair of Saturday night bonus races: the Fab Shop Quick 16 and the Ohlins King of Illinois Hi-Roller Shootout.

"We’re very excited to be associated with the JEGS Spring Door Car Shootout," said five-time drag racing champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. "Sportsman bracket racing is a huge part of who we are and what we do here at JEGS. I’m also very excited about the JEGS Spring Door Car Shootout on a personal level, as my schedule is going to allow me to attend this event and compete myself."

Coughlin added that he’ll drive his familiar JEGS Chevy II Station Wagon and new JEGS Corvette Roadster at the race.

JEGS also will present a number of gift certificates for the event, which will be awarded randomly to racers as door prizes. The JEGS Spring Door Car Shootout will boast more than $20,000 in prizes from a host of supporting manufacturers in addition to the $30,000-plus cash purse.
